Jo M. was a beacon of light in our lives, guiding us with her wisdom and love.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the departure of our beloved mother, Jo Margaret McIntyre, who was born on November 26, 1941, in Whitewright, TX. As her daughter, I can attest to the fact that Jo M. was a woman of extraordinary courage and resilience, always meeting life's challenges with wit and reliability. She was a beacon of light in our lives, guiding us with her wisdom and love. Jo M. was a firm believer in the power of prayer, and she often said, "When you love the Lord, you can overcome any obstacle." Her faith was unwavering, her heart filled with love for everyone, and her prayers encompassed us all.
Jo M. dedicated her life to the service of others. Armed with degrees in Human Services, Child Development, and Vocational Nursing, she worked tirelessly as a certified nursing assistant and later as a live-in health aide. Her passion for the welfare of others was evident in her work with The Tenant's Assoc., where she helped establish displaced elders in stable living environments. She was revered for her relentless dedication, earning her accolades and respect from all who knew her. Above all, Jo M. wanted her family to look out for each other, a value she instilled in us all.
Jo M. is survived by her children, Kimberly Clendenen, David Clendenen, Billy McKinney, Dwayne McKinney, and Stephanie Cross, her sister Fannie Granderson, a friend of 50 years, May Geoffney, and a host of family and friends. She now joins her parents Oscar McKinney and Louisa McKinneyGoodman, her daughter MayJo Jones, her son Brian Clendenen, her grandson Montrez Bellfield, her siblings JB Redmond, Alice Faye, YC McKinney, Sonny McKinney, and ElNora Jenkins.
The Viewing will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Family First Funerals and Cremations, 2703 Elsie Faye Heggins Street, Dallas, Texas, 75215, starting from 9:00 am. The Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm at the same venue.
Her faith was unwavering, her heart filled with love for everyone, and her prayers encompassed us all.
As we remember and celebrate the life of Jo M, we invite you to share your memories and upload photos on the memorial page. May her spirit continue to inspire us in the lives we lead, as we honour the legacy of this remarkable woman. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." : Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8) Let us remember Jo M with these words, knowing she lived a life of faith, love, and service.
She also leaves to cherish a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
I knew that there would come a day That we all would have to say I love you, miss you and enjoy the time Until one day we will have to find The memory of a kiss a whisper of your touch That we have come to enjoy just as much Of your laugh, your dance and also pain That this life has given us to gain.A mother daughter sister and a friend. Although that day has come to an end But your soul has risen and body laid to rest Since God only knew what was best He gave you to us for a little while Then reached to claim His darling child
Love Kim
